When you have missed as much cricket as I have and you come back into the side you want to enjoy it.

"I love playing cricket, it's been taken away from me at various points in my career so it's about cherishing playing every time you get an opportunity to do so, especially when you have got the three lions on."

Andrew Flintoff futher concluded by saying "I've had two years rehab since 2005 so it's been tough but the reason you do it is to put the England shirt back on and get the chance to play in an Ashes series," he said.

"And I'm not far away from that now. As you get older you don't want to miss much cricket because you don't know how much you have got left in you.

"When I was in the gym and trying to get fit again it was all about playing in the Ashes. I would have loved to play in the Twenty20 World Cup because it looked like a great tournament but the ultimate is the Ashes."

Ashes Series - Pietersen will Miss Ashes Tests - Ashes Live Score

Kevin Pietersen will miss Ashes Test Series due to Achilles injury.

Pietersen told the News of the World "I'm taking the best medical advice and I'm doing everything I can to face Australia but, occasionally, Achilles injuries do flare up. If that happens on the morning of a Test then I wouldn't be able to take part."

Pietersen further added "Achilles injury is a nerve problem related to the back but since I had the injection last Friday I have been fine. There is still pain in the heel but I'm doing the right thing to try to eliminate as much pain as I can.

"In order to fix an Achilles injury like this properly I probably do need two or three months out of the game.

"Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. I'm a man who wants to play every game for England and as much as I can. As long as I can walk I will play."

If Pietersen miss the Ashes Test England are in sort of bother.
